IT RADIO NETWORK FEATURES INTERVIEWS WITH THE CEOS OF TOW OF TODAYS LEADING AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES, DELPHI AUTOMOTIVE & INFOMOVE
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA July 24, 2000 -- IT Radio Network, the voice behind eBusiness, is featuring in-depth interviews with the CEOs of two of the companies that are leading the automotive revolution, J.T. Battenberg III of recent General Motors (NYSE: GM) spin-off Delphi Automotive and Peter Holland of Infomove.
During the interview, the two discussed the current revolution that is taking place in the automotive industry and what people can expect to see in the future.
"Theres a dramatic revolution going on in the automotive industry. The industry has been mechanically driven, mechanical gears, motors and mechanical connections," said Battenberg. "Those are giving way dramatically to the first electromechanical connections. Were moving to drive by wire, steer by wire, brake by wire, so this revolution is really upon us."
The automobile revolution doesnt stop there. Not only are electromechanical connections taking over the usual mechanical connections, but soon you will be able to browse the Internet from the drivers seat using "telematics."
"Telematics basically are wireless applications, content tailored for the information needed in a vehicle. Traditionally youve had two different telematic solutions, OnStar and Alpine. Neither of which are real-time," said Holland. "The future telematic solutions using wireless data and the Internet would be able to anticipate your routes, know where youre going and suggest alternate routes due to such things as accidents."
These entire interviews are available free online in RealAudio (Nasdaq: RNWK) and text.
